2019.04 My Stint as Chainsaw Barbie
So, there is no picture up here of me, but I do have long golden blond hair and while none of it is actually gray or white – most of the blond is woven in by my hairdresser a few times a year or I would be a wet look mess of mousey brown – though she says it is actually blue. (Not sure what she is talking about because it doesn’t look blue – professional hair talk no doubt!) It can be noted that I do not (nor have I ever had) Barbie’s figure, cause nobody has!
My former husband had this funny naming convention for things that weren’t normal sized or “regular”, like the shop vac was a vacuum and the little one you could carry in your hand was the Barbie Doll vac. Before I was laid off a year and half ago, I had managed to celebrate my 5th year at the company and instead of a pin or company logo jewelry, they send you a catalog so you can select your own honorary item commemorating the milestone. Well, I looked through that catalog and all I saw was a lot of stuff that I didn’t need. You see I have a large home and while I continue to haul things out, somehow it fills again. It’s hard to understand because I never shop except for groceries. Anyway, I really didn’t need nor want anything so after an eye roll and a first pass through the booklet, I came across an item on the last page. It was…yep! an electric chainsaw on an extendable pole in bright green! That was it – Barbie Doll chainsaw! Total Score!
The funny thing was that I didn’t open the box for over a year. It sat in the garage on top of the dead grand piano (yes, I really do have one of those in there.) My first try with it, the thing was too heavy for me to wield. Then last summer in a fit of desperation because some of those blackberry vines were too thick for the hedge trimmer, I got that sucker out, took off the pole and used the short version. Hey, we became friends. All that whacking and digging gave me some muscles in my arms too. So this last weekend, I was Chainsaw Barbie – whacking bushes down to size, branches, dead limbs and having a great old time.
Back yard is shaping up!

Sorry, you’ll be singing this one now that you watched it. Theme song today 🙂
